(Keep in mind how much anticipated on 'News').
On Tex we were told everything. And maybe it's true, but what was not done is put it all together.
I intended this website to be a kind of manual for reading Tex, useful both to those who already know but for those who do not yet know him. Who does not read Tex, will be pleased to get to know the various features of this character, not by my words but above all by various quotations type of sources; who reads it regularly, it will find situations, expressions and characters that are now familiar, arranged and cataloged like in a store ready to consult and with some curiosity that affect.
You will find the first story of the birth of this character and some possible explanations of the reasons of such a success, then the story published in the United States, following the best stories of Tex and finally a chronological list of all the numbers Tex
We will read together Tex, taking us an explanation, interviews and more. Essentially, I tell you what has been said about Tex in these 68 years.
For all the work will be included photos and portraits of the people who worked in Tex.
If anyone would like to see pictures that are only described in words on the site let me know and I'll try to oblige.
Not everyone has been able to read the many books published on Tex, which perhaps contained interviews with the authors of the stories, or mail page by Sergio Bonelli Tex on many issues and other publications. What do they think or what they thought of Tex its creators, for example, or other writers and other artists, and critics, and readers?
Who have been, and who are now, Tex screenwriters and designers, how was it, or, as it is now, their life, their career?
All this wealth of information could end up being lost and new generations of readers could read Tex ignoring many things.
He once said Sergio Bonelli: "I envy those writers who, having to reconstruct an event remote in time, can afford to retrieve valuable information from the archive of a newspaper or a public library! For a comic book publisher like me, however, is always more dramatic and difficult, and once given up to the help of a good memory that allows me barely rostruire what I did last week, I can only take note of an incontrovertible fact: the memory of all events professional occurred from 1946 (the year of recovery of the Italian comics and, consequently, of our small publishing house) is entrusted exclusively to the oral tradition, with tales passed from mouth to mouth, as it happens, for example, still, with the tribe of Yanomami Indians of the Amazon or some other small indigenous group scattered into the forest! " (2)
"The incurable disorder which unfortunately has always been part of my personality I was never allowed to own an" archive "from which to draw testimonies about seventy years of my father Gianluigi Bonelli activities. To my partial defense, I can cite the many changes of address and, if you please, even a world war! " (3)
In addition to songs of interviews and articles, where the lion does it naturally Sergio Bonelli (the vast majority of the interviews have turned to him who oversaw public relations), now deceased, sometimes I even added my considerations (easily recognizable because not placed between the quotation marks as I do for other quotes).
And now some words of Sergio Bonelli. With Sergio Bonelli disappears the last person who lived throughout the history of Tex, and to whom you could ask for an amount of news and trivia, news of which he spoke in interviews and in the headings of the books published by him, all the writings that have been I am taken into consideration in this publication.
I've tried to convey not only information already known by some (but by others maybe not) but also to make sure that the whole informational materials and leave the reader the satisfying feeling of having really learned something new.
Perhaps many young visitors to the site will not have the patience to read long texts but please make the effort to linger to enjoy the narration might like.
I tried to include information in harmony with the facts, trying as much as possible, to take the time to determine the truth. When something is dubious, often I write it clearly. I tried to exercise caution and to take information from reliable sources. I also placed the material in a logical and chronological order so as to help the reader understand how they developed certain situations. I also tried to imagine what you would have asked you readers at some point in the discussion.
It will be colored in red text I've inserted new or modified (this time should be 20-30 days). This is to encourage those who visit the site often and not to force it to re-read every time all the material looking (hard) of additions.
For all practical purposes, this can be considered the first comprehensive work of its kind, a kind of Tex encyclopedia, putting in order, systematically, all that is available, after 68 years of history and stories of what has been defined as "an uninterrupted saga (without a doubt, the longest Italian literary works of all time)." (1)
At the end, it turns out to be the most comprehensive source of information about Tex Willer and his world.
Although this site is, and will probably remain so in the future, the product of a simple fan, a general reader and then a layman, not a pundit, a critic, a journalist with the limitations that this may result in but also with its advantages: I consulted mountains of publications and articles written about Tex and more than once I found myself in front of inaccuracies or negligence that would not have escaped the passionate reader or collector (characters and titles of stories called the wrong name, etc.). I also happened to see presented designs that were not among the most successful and I thought that a good reader Tex would have chosen better. This does not mean that I do not want to tend to a job as professional as possible. Tips, suggestions, but also critical to the site are always welcome. (4)
For this work I consulted tens of thousands of publications: the work of a lifetime.
